School Governors make a positive contribution to children’s education by offering supportive challenge to help raise standards and monitor resources effectively. School Governors work as a team and come from a wide variety of backgrounds to add value to school life by offering their skills, expertise and time.

Trewirgie Junior School is committed to raising educational standards. When there becomes a vacancy, will will be looking for dedicated individuals who want to make a difference in the lives of children and are willing to share their experience in an educational environment.

 

Preferable skills and competencies

We will be looking  for dedicated individuals who can offer their knowledge and expertise in one or more of these areas; finance, human resources, health and safety, communications or managing premises.

 

Each governor will sit on committees that broadly reflect their expertise and interests as well as contributing to areas in which they are not necessarily an expert.  This may involve sitting on panels for interviewing staff, admitting pupils or hearing a complaint.  What we are looking for are individuals who are passionate about the school’s philosophy, share its ethos and are willing to dedicate the time to be a critical friend who can help us achieve our goals.

Governors should possess good strategic and general financial awareness, critical listening and appraisal skills and the ability to ask the right probing questions. We seek individuals who have an awareness of standards in public life, a determination to abide by them and the integrity to participate in collective decision-making in the best interests of the School.
